I do enjoy this mystery series. It revolves around historic events and a girl who is trying to make ends meet by working at her 'Grandma's' Bed and Breakfast, working as a waitress, and trying to accomplish painting and baking. Her name is Georgie Tanner and she is a handful.Georgie is working as a waitress for the annual fundraiser in town. George Washington's sword will be on display. The invited guests are of the upper crust and Georgie quickly learns that snarky gossip abounds even in this rare environment.The woman who the gossip is centered upon is found dead. Then the sword is stolen. Georgie must figure out this puzzle. Then she becomes the target...what to do? Call her police boyfriend and figure this out.This book is a quick read but very complete. The dialog is good, the story plots are firm. And, I'm always satisfied by the ending. Actually, it makes me want more. So, I'm following this author.Give this series a read. The cooking disasters will have you laughing.
Georgie Tanner is volunteering to be a server at a dinner party where her Aunt Cecilia is assisting the caterer. The highlight of the party is to be the displaying of the sword Greorge Washington gave to John Paulding for detaining Benedict Arnold. While Georgie is helping serve the soup, Mrs. Vanderton wants to confirm that there is no seafood in the soup, as she is allergic to shellfish.Returning to the dining room to collect the dishes, Georgie notices that Mrs. Vanderton is missing. The other guests at the table either don't notice or don't care, as she was not very popular and nobody seems to be interested in looking for her. When she fails to return, Georgie wonders if she left, as she had earlier overheard Mrs. Vanderton in a heated discussion with one of the other guests.Later that evening, Mrs. Vanderton is found dead and shortly thereafter, the host, Mr. Miguel, realizes that the ceremonial sword is also missing.Are the two crimes related? Was Mrs. Vanderton's death used as a distraction to steal the sword? Who killed Mrs. Vanderton and why? Who stole the sword? Can Georgie figure out the puzzle and help recover the missing sword?Very engrossing, as there is an abundance of suspects and dead-end clues. Great characters, as usual, and a suprise ending.
Georgie Tanner, local guide who also works a bed and breakfast, along with local detective work together to solve a murder. Just so happens that they are also romantically involved. What happened when a lady turns up dead at a benefit dinner, was she murdered or died of medical problems. You will have to read to find answers. I recommend this cozy mystery for those who enjoy good clean reading.
This is easy, enjoyable reading. If you are a fan of the cozy mystery you will like this book, although I hesitate to call it cozy as it doesn't follow that pattern. The writing is good and interesting and moves along well. I will read another of the author's books.
Georgie Tanner moved back home to Gainsville, PA after her fiancé died in a car accident. She helps Aunt Cecelia, who is no relation to Georgie, with her B&B. Cecelia was her Grandmother's BF and took care of Georgie when her Grandmother died. Georgie also takes the tourists from the B&B on tours of the area. Frank, a cop, is Cecelia's Grandson and grew up with Georgie, has also moved back to PA. They have a fun relationship with teasing, but feelings are beginning to brew. Georgie was helping cater a big Valentine party, when a body is discovered. Then a historical sword goes missing.
A fancy fund raising gala dinner, a missing antique sword, & a dead body. What do they have in common? Georgie Tanner! Once again our intrepid heroine becomes involved in another murder mystery. Unfortunately, this time around she finds herself in the middle of some very dangerous situations. She is giving poor Frank quite a bit of grey hair! Speaking of Frank, that relationship is moving along quite nicely, which makes me very happy as I am a romantic at heart. It’s nice to see both Georgie & Frank moving forward with their lives. I do find myself wondering about a statement curmudgeonly Mr. Oscar made that might foreshadow things to come. Lots of plot twists kept me guessing till the very end. I really enjoy this series & am eagerly awaiting book 4!
This is the third installment in the series, and the romance between Frank and Georgie is definitely blooming. The characters have their own personalities, with Georgie becoming more adept at mysteries, and Frank now recognizes that she is, and accepting her observations.With the sharp tongued Veronica, who complained constantly, murdered at a charity event. The caterer, Adele, as well as Georgie , who acted as server, are at the top of the list of persons of interest. Georgie and the police have to find the murderer before Georgie becomes the next victim.
I have no idea how this has such high reviews, I've found too many spelling and grammatical errors in just the first 3% of the book, I honestly don't know if I'll be able to finish it. This is the second book recently that I've started with huge, obvious errors from page one. The other book I didn't even continue. I may update this after I try to keep reading. Seriously though, editor...do your job!! Or author, hire one! Whichever applies, it's ridiculously hard to read like this.
